A floor scrubber is an efficient tool designed to effectively deep clean large areas of flooring in just one pass. Floor scrubbers are relatively simple to use, but you must carefully prep both the scrubber and the work area before you begin scrubbing so as to ensure that the device is able to work at maximum efficiency.

The only tools and supplies that you will likely need include:

  • Neutral floor cleaner
  • Dust mop/broom
  • Vacuum
  • Automatic floor scrubber

Acquire proper PPE

Before operating a floor scrubber you should ensure that you are equipped with propper protection for yourself and others. PPE necessary for operating a floor scrubber include:

  • Eye protection
  • Face masks
  • Gloves
  • Wet floor/caution signs

After ensuring that you have the right tools for the job and those involved in this project are properly protected, it is time to begin the floor scrubbing process. Below is a step by step guide for prepping your work surface, and operating a floor scrubber.

Step 1: Clear all objects out of your work area

Remove all objects and furniture from your work area to ensure that the floor scrubber is unobstructed throughout the process. By clearing your entire work area in advance you will streamline the floor scrubbing process.

Step 2: Thoroughly sweep and vacuum your work area

One of the most important steps in this process, ensure that your work area is thoroughly swept and vacuumed before you begin using the floor scrubber. This will keep any debris from getting caught in the scrubber, improving the quality of the process while preventing wear and tear on the floor scrubber.

Step 3: Prepare your automatic floor scrubber

To prepare your automatic floor scrubber, you must first fill the solution tank on your device. Use the cleaning solution and the concentration specified by the manufacturer of your specific floor scrubber. After filling the solution tank you must attach the floor pad to the scrubber. There are different kinds of floor pads that are intended for various different kinds of uses, ensure that you are using the right floor pad for your project in advance. Now, attach your squeegee blade to the automatic floor scrubber. After the squeegee blade is properly attached, adjust the auto scrubbers controls to the proper settings for your job.

Step 4: Use the now prepared floor scrubber to thoroughly scrub your work area

Lower the auto scrubbers squeegee to the ground and power on the device. Start in the innermost part of the floor, and while working slowly you should make straight passes

Step 5: Shut down and thoroughly clean the automatic floor scrubber

After using your automatic floor scrubber, shut your device down and thoroughly clean the solution tanks. Allow the tanks to dry thoroughly before storing to prevent mold and mildew from forming.

Step 6: Charge the machine after use

Finally, leave the machine to charge fully and then store it in preparation for your next use.
