1. There are Three Kinds of Bamboo Flooring.

Bamboo flooring can be vertical, horizontal, or strand woven. Each kind of flooring has a different way of combining the strands of bamboo grass together. The horizontal and vertical boards offer different kinds of designs. A vertical bamboo floor has a uniform, striped look. A horizontal bamboo floor can be recognized by the knots or “knuckles” in the grain. Strand woven stands out from the three as the strongest and most expensive kind of bamboo flooring.

2. Bamboo is not Waterproof and won’t Stand up well Against Humidity.

Bamboo flooring is seen as an alternative to hardwood flooring. This causes some homeowners to get the wrong idea about bamboo. It is unique because it is made from sustainable materials compared to hardwood flooring. It still needs to be protected from water damage and must be kept safe from humidity, just like hardwood flooring.

3. Bamboo brings a Modern look to the Space it is Installed In.

Bamboo flooring has been around for two decades. It’s color and stripe grain gives floors a modern interior design element. Being kind to the environment is also rising in popularity as homeowners learn more about how easy it is to choose sustainable building materials. This makes bamboo a top choice for many of our customers.

4. Bamboo is Forested Overseas, mostly in China.

A large concern for customers is if the bamboo is harvested safely. Since moso bamboo—the most common type of bamboo grass used for bamboo flooring—grows overseas, the plantations don’t have the same forestry practices or safety procedures for their workers. Many bamboo companies look to get certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) so their customers can rest assured they only get their bamboo from responsibly managed plantations.
